Grant County, ND

 The Grant County Horizons Committee met on Monday, January 19, 2008 to plan for Grant County’s future by developing a vision statement and set goals.

Our vision is:  All generations working together in a positive manner to ensure high quality education, jobs, services and affordable housing for everyone.

Goal 1 : Expand adult education program to include computer skills training for senior citizens

Goal 2: Improve housing within the community to meet needs and ensure availability and affordability

Goal 3: Build Awareness and Identify possiblilities to develop wind energy in the area

Goal 4: Expand community support for both existing and new businesses

Goal 5: Continue leadership training

Grant County Ag Day will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Grant County Fairbuilding in Carson. The day will begin at 9:30 am MT with registration and viewing of the displays.

The program will be as follows:

9:30 am - 10 am - Registration and Viewing of displays

10 am - 11 am - Crop Diseases and Varieties - Roger Ashley, NDSU Extension Area Specialist/Cropping System

Soybean and Wheat Elections

11 am - Noon - Feeding Co-Products - Karl Hoppe, NDSU Extension Area Livestock Specialist

Noon - 1 pm - Lunch will be provided & viewing of displays

1 pm - 2 pm - Market Outlook for Cattle & LRP program -Tim Petry, NDSU Extension Livestock Marketing Economist

2 pm - 3 pm - Noxious Weeds Control - Merlin Leithold, Grant County Weed Officer
